We’re thrilled to announce that Michael D. Lewis, MD, has joined the board of the BART Foundation. Dr. Lewis is a thought leader in the field of Omega-3 fish oil therapies for TBI/ABI, a distinguished physician, soldier, researcher, entrepreneur, public speaker, and advocate for many of the alternative therapies our foundation strives to promote and seek coverage for through health insurers. Dr. Lewis joins three other physicians on our board: Dr. Michael Compain, MD, Dr. Perry Perretz, DO, and Dr. Eugene Sussman, MD. We are incredibly thankful for his expertise and familiarity with athletes and Veterans who have sustained TBI/ABI.
Dr. Lewis is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and Tulane University School of Medicine and completed his postgraduate training at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Johns Hopkins University, and Walter Reed Army Institute of Research. He is board-certified and a Fellow of the American College of Preventive Medicine and the American College of Nutrition. After a distinguished 31-year career in the U.S. Army, Dr. Lewis retired as a colonel and founded the nonprofit Brain Health Education and Research Institute and BrainCARE, which fosters better brain health for people worldwide.
